As the autumn colours appear, the Garden is still looking great and we couldn’t resist having one more special event!

Throughout the summer artist Lisa Matthias has been creating works as part of her Artist Residency at Pegg Garden. Lisa has set up a gallery in the log home and Visitor Centre featuring her print works, etchings, and woodcuts. We are so excited for you to see her newest, and largest, woodcuts.

This is a casual event, drop in any time from noon to 4:00PM. Take a stroll around the Garden, wander down the nature trail, find a beautiful backdrop for some family photos. Whatever the weather, we’ll have the wood stove going in the log home, along with some hot beverages and a sweet snack. Children and adults are invited to get creative with some take-home art activities.

We’ll also be talking about dahlias. Our good gardening friend David Stephenson will be available all afternoon to answer your dahlia questions. This is the time of year to be digging, dividing, and storing your dahlias. See David’s demonstration on the fine art of dividing the tuberous roots in preparation overwintering them indoors. David has had a passion for dahlias for at least 15 years, growing as many as 350 plants at a time.

There is always something to learn at the Garden. September 27 is World Tourism Day. Check out our Northwest of 16 Tourism Association poster and explore their interactive map to learn about the many destinations you can experience northwest of Edmonton.

We started the 2026 season with an iNaturalist BioBlitz. Bring your cellphone with the iNaturalist app downloaded and participate in the iNat Together 2026 global campaign from September 18-28. Wander down the nature trial and find a plant, an insect, or a fungus that catches your eye.

Admission is by donation. Lisa has art for sale. And- on our plant sale table we have a selection of dahlia plants you can store for the winter and start next spring. We look forward to seeing you!
