Rural Roots Farmer Showcase

There’s a certain amount of pride that should be taken by gardeners and farmers at the end of the

summer. Gardeners and farmers can take a certain amount of pride at the end of the summer.

Gardeners and farmers should celebrate their accomplishments and their participation in bringing

seed to seedling, and seedling to harvest, as well as raising livestock. The Rural Roots Farmer

Showcase and Culinary Event looks to celebrate the trials and tribulations associated with

producing food.

This event is a two-part producer showcase in celebration of locally produced, farm to table

food. The first part of the producer showcase is the vendor market, open from 9:00 am to 4:00

pm, on Saturday August 17th. The vendor market will includes a plethora of vendor rented tables

stocked with locally produced food. Participating in the vendor market will give local farmers

and gardeners the opportunity to market their products and connect with an amazing local food

network. Additionally, participants of the vendor food market will have the food their food

featured in the second part of the producer showcase, the farm to table dinner.

The farm to table dinner will be prepared by an Alberta chef using exclusively locally produced

foods, and – I have more updated info coming. will be held on Saturday August 17 from 5:00 pm

-9:00 pm. The George Pegg Botanic Garden will provide a unique backdrop for this event as it

was once the Pegg family homestead. On the property the Pegg family raised their own

livestock, and grew their own produce, thus they were the embodiment of what the Rural Roots

event looks to celebrate. Furthermore, the George Pegg Botanic Garden has planted a vegetable

garden of their very own and has planted numerous vegetables specifically for the event.

Join us Saturday August 17th at the historic George Pegg Botanic Garden, to celebrate locally produced food.
